About Me

An Accredited Professional Counsellor Here to Support You

Welcome to my website !

My name is Sharon and I am a qualified and experienced Counsellor/Psychotherapist. I work in private practice, supporting individuals from 18 years old onwards from my home in Henton nr Chinnor, Oxfordshire.

I also volunteer at a charitable agency as a Counsellor.

I have an advanced diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, a diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and a diploma in Hypnotherapy and Counselling skills. I work within the framework of the National Counselling Society. I am an accredited professional member of the National Counselling Society (MNCS Accred.) and I am fully insured and DBS checked. I continue to attend various development courses and events to further my knowledge and update my skills.

Prior to being a Counsellor I worked for over 20 years in both the Public and Private sectors in the finance industry, therefore I can have an appreciation of the demands, stresses and pressures that work can have on our lives.

I decided to become a Counsellor as I am passionate about helping people improve their lives and move forward.

What is Counselling......

Counselling is a talking therapy that involves you being listened to by a trained therapist that can help you find ways to deal with your emotional and personal issues. Life's turmoils can sometimes make a person feel trapped in your life. Counselling helps identify the issues that are posing a problem and then helps you gain an understanding and clarity of the options available to help you. During therapy I will help you develop strategies for working through your problems and help you become self aware so your personal growth and development  can increase and as a result your overall well-being.

Perhaps you're down or anxious - maybe you're unsure about the future of a relationship, or just feel that you aren't living the life you were meant to lead. Whatever your needs may be, I am here to offer support. I have the tools and professional experience to help you get back on track.

How I work

I work as an integrated Counsellor. This means that I can offer a range of counselling and psychotherapy techniques if and when needed and to suit a client's requirements. Examples of this would be CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Psychodynamic Counselling and Person Centred Therapy.

I work primarily with Person Centred Therapy so I can work with you and offer you an understanding, empathetic approach to help you tackle your issues.  This approach is also honest and friendly and is non-judgmental. Your therapy will take place in a safe, confidential environment in a therapy room at my home.

Services I Offer

Whatever your reasons for requiring therapy, hopefully you will gain from visiting my website that talking about your issues can be beneficial. Through my personal experience and professional skills we can explore your issues and work through them together.

Appointments & Fees

I offer 50 minute face to face sessions by appointment at a time mutually agreed between us, usually the same day and time each week as this helps with a structured approach. Alternatively, I also offer telephone sessions if preferred or more convenient.  Sessions can be held on weekdays or evenings.

The initial session is a free telephone consultation taking between 20 and 30 minutes.  This is an exploration session to explain how I work and assess if we can work effectively together. Counselling is only effective if a good rapport can be established between the therapist and the client. At the first full session we would agree an appropriate number of sessions and at the end of those sessions we would mutually assess progress and decide if further sessions are then needed.

Full counselling sessions after the telephone consultation are £45 per 50 minute session. Payment can be either cash, cheque or BACS transfer and is due on the day of the session.

Missed appointments with less than 48 hours notice are chargeable.

Prices are reviewed periodically.
